BlueWare's History
BlueWare’s founders recognized that hospitals were drowning in paper. Even the smallest hospital on their client base generated two million pieces of paper a year. A software solution that created a secure repository for all that paper was becoming imperative by sheer volume. But perhaps even more important was how all that paper could affect the actual quality of care. Therefore, of the 25 modules, we focus on the medical history which happens to be in paper form today for close to 100% of all patients worldwide.
BlueWare was founded in 1993 with the vision to create the all digital health record from cradle to grave for all populations by a group of IBMers including Rose Harr. BlueWare software, now called BestBond aggregates patient information from disparate systems (as well as paper) and merges the information into a common view of the patient’s entire health history that is extremely user-friendly. From the north woods of Michigan, BlueWare has become a principle player in healthcare technology. The BestBond software suite is now used by more than 200 healthcare facilities through the United States and Europe. At present, we have commitment from Guam Memorial Hospital Authority which will provide our on-ramp to the Pacific rim countries.
BlueWare’s stellar solutions has not only lead BlueWare to massive growth, but to numerous awards as well, including: 2008 IBM Beacon Award for Innovation Excellence in Healthcare, 2006 Michigan Top 50 Companies to Watch, 2005 IBM Beacon Award for Best DB2 Solution Worldwide. For a complete list of all awards, please see the Appendix.

Dr. Clark Headrick, DO"I use The Wellness Connection everyday now … I can access it from anywhere… I can see multiple charts for a patient, including the previous visits. Because there is immediate accessibility, I find there is no 'lost chart'. I don't have to try to locate the chart on the floor if it is not in medical records which often used to happen. I have more rapid access to reports such as lab and radiology than the other systems, especially on the floor. In addition, it assists us in our billing process, making it faster."
Dr. Dennis Pank, MD
"With the Wellness Connection available, I am able to access my patient information at home or in the office. I am able to review past admissions for review, access patient demographics, laboratory and x-ray information. I remember how surprised a nurse was when called the unit from home regarding my patient with Wellness, I actually had access to lab results before the results hit the unit."
Dr. Kenneth Yokosawa, MD
"I use Wellness all of the time.....with the web-based access I use Wellness to review my personal and group census while making rounds in the hospital with my wireless laptop, at home and when I am seeing patients in my office. What makes Wellness so valuable is the patient data. I can view radiology reports and laboratory results within 30 minutes of the completed tests.”
